Liberty Harbor

The Statue of Liberty classic look comes from Libertas, ancient Rome goddess of freedom from slavery,

oppression and tyranny. His right foot is on the fly, Liberty Harbor. This symbol of

freedom and liberty is not at rest or at attention in the harbor, moving, as their left foot tramples

broken shackles at her feet, in symbolism of the U.S. desire to be free from oppression and tyranny. The

Liberty Harbor In 1776 the American colonies opposed the British government through a

series of events which by themselves show no indication that a complete break from England was not even

imaginable. The UK has sought to reduce the debt incurred by the French and Indian War by imposing taxes

on the colonies. Uniform resentment and opposition of these charges lead to the repeal of the Stamp Act

of 1765 and the Townshend Act of 1767 by Parliament. However, the repeal of the Townshend Act is not

without bloodshed. To protest the Townshend Act, colonists boycotted British products. In 1768, public

officials angered the U.S. request for British troops to occupy Boston to restore order. Although

nothing happened immediately, the settlers have continued to boycott British goods, while the tension

between residents and the English is becoming more tense. In 1770, a skirmish between the local

population more and more British soldiers became belligerent and violent. The skirmish is known as the

Boston Massacre. Many patriots die. The news of the fight spread rapidly and ignites the flame of the

settlers would have had to cut the ties of England. Then Parliament repeals the Townshend Act, but still

the tax on tea. In 1773, despite the peace that reigned temporarily in Boston, the tax on tea becomes

more and more irritating to the American colonists.

Therefore, during the first year of 1870, Bartholdi began to conceive the creation of the statue. Over

the years, he and his team used single sheets of copper were hammered, pressed, bent into shape and

joined to form the statue. On 28 October 1886, the Statue of Liberty was dedicated to the United States

of America.
